In subacute infection of ASF, PCR positive and antibody-negative results were 10%, PCR positive and antibody-positive results were 87%, PCR negative and antibody-positive results were 3%. In chronic infection of ASF, PCR positive and antibody-negative results were 2%, PCR positive and antibody-positive were 31%, while PCR negative and antibody-positive results were 67%.
From the research, we can find that in subacute and chronic infection of ASF, PCR negative results do not rule out ASF infection, antibody testing shall still be considered as an important tool for ASF eradication.
