African swine fever (ASF) is a highly contagious and fatal viral disease that affects both domestic and wild pigs of all ages. ASF has no vaccine or treatment and can cause severe economic losses to the pig industry. ASF is not a threat to human health or food safety.
The EURL-ASF is a research center that provides diagnostic services, training, and scientific advice on ASF to the European Commission and the member states. The EURL-ASF also coordinates the network of national reference laboratories for ASF in the EU.
